Dr. Ahrenholz is a Senior Industrial Hygienist in the Hazard Evaluation and Technical Assistance Branch in the Division of Surveillance, Hazard Evaluations, and Field Studies (DSHEFS) of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) in Cincinnati, OH. He has been involved with pandemic influenza preparedness as the division coordinator for DSHEFS, served as a member of the NIOSH pandemic influenza interdivisional task force, and assigned to the worker safety and health desk in the CDC Emergency Operations Center (EOC). Work in the EOC included participation in EOC pandemic influenza exercises and the H1N1 outbreak earlier this year. Dr. Ahrenholz has been with NIOSH for 26 years, 12 in the NIOSH Health Hazard Evaluation Branch (HHE). He is ABIH Board Certified in the comprehensive practice of industrial hygiene and has graduate degrees in environmental and occupational health. His current duties involve working on the HHE follow-back program and H1N1/pandemic influenza issues.
