The AIHA Chicago Local Section invites you to attend the 2009-2010 kick-off dinner meeting. See your friends and colleagues. Invite a guest.

When: Wed. Sept. 16, 2009

Topic: "The Contribution of Chemical Microscopy to the Solution of the Green River Murders"

This presentation describes the contributions of trace evidence to the solution of the Green River Murders and the confession of Gary Ridgway to those crimes. The Green River Murders in Seattle remain the largest serial murder case in U.S. history. The presenter developed the scientific evidence that led directly to Ridgway's confession to 48 of the murders. He thinks he may have killed up to 70 women in the course of his nearly 20 year killing spree. The talk will be illustrated with TV footage of the case and images of the trace evidence which we recovered from the clothing of the victims. Several behind the scenes incidents and little known facts relating to the case will also be described.
